The Mountain School is located in Vershire, Vermont.

Our campus is 430 acres of forest, farmlands, academic buildings, and dorms.

Vershire is a tiny town in central Vermont. There are miles of uninterrupted forest stretching in every direction, and it is a 30-minute drive to Hanover, NH (the closest sizable town).

 Contacting the Mountain School

Calls to the Mountain School’s main office may be answered between 8:00am and 4:00pm on weekdays during the semester. You can leave messages at any school extension, or call any home telephone number if your message is more urgent. The dormitories' telephones are for routine calls to and from students. Don't despair if the line is busy the first time you call.

Visiting the Mountain School

Most students tend to stay on campus during the weekends; however, we welcome family and friends to visit. If you are a student and you would like to go home on the weekend or host a visitor, please email Zac Hewitt.

If you’d like to visit campus, please EMAIL US or give us a call at (802) 685-4520. We are about 6 hours from New York City and 3 hours from Boston.

If you are planning on visiting a current student, please email Zac Hewitt to organize your visit.

  • Admissions Visit Days are hosted during the fall semester in October and November and after decisions have been sent out in April. If you are a prospective student and you would like to organize a tour, please reach out to our Admissions Team

  • Alumni are always welcome to come to campus, whether or not the semester is in session. If we are not able to offer you a tour, you are welcome to walk around on your own. If you are an alum and would like to organize a visit, please contact Annie Janeway

  • The Mountain School is happy to host colleagues from other educational institutions. If you are visiting from another institution and would like to organize a visit, please email Alex Myers.

Driving Directions

Please note that the Mountain School is on a dirt road. In snow or mud, an all-wheel drive and/or high clearance vehicle may be necessary. If you are not sure about the road conditions, please contact our main office at 802 685 4520.

Please also note that there is limited cell phone coverage in our area, so we recommend downloading driving directions before you begin your drive.

Airports

The following are the closest airports to the Mountain School, in order of proximity.

The Dartmouth Coach provides the most regular and cost-effective transportation to and from our region. The Mountain School provides students transportation to the main terminal of the Dartmouth Coach in Lebanon, NH, with service to Boston, MA and New York, NY in order for students to access major airports or return home during mid-semester breaks. Students should purchase their tickets on the Dartmouth Coach website and send their request to our Office Manager, Holly Shore.

The Vermonter Amtrak line runs through White River Junction, with service to New York, NY. The Vermonter takes slightly longer than the Dartmouth Coach to reach New York and is slightly more expensive. Students wishing to use the Amtrak should purchase their tickets on the Amtrak website and send their request for transportation to the station to our Office Manager, Holly Shore.
